I'd book this if you want to drive off road. You follow a guide in an automatic buggy. The trip takes 2.5 hours. Tickets start at €85 per person.
I'd take the 10:00 departure to leave the afternoon free. There's also a 15:00 start. The route crosses the west and centre of Terceira. You pass the Serra de Santa Bárbara viewpoint.
Drivers need a valid driving licence. Lunch is at your own expense. Hotel pickup covers Angra do Heroísmo. Cancel at least 24 hours before departure for a full refund.
